Shop stools by height

Height is the first decision and the one most people get wrong. A standard 35 to 37 inch kitchen counter or island takes a counter height stool with a 24 to 27 inch seat. A 41 to 43 inch home bar or pub table takes a bar height stool with a 29 to 32 inch seat. Measure to the underside of the surface and subtract 10 to 12 inches, or read our bar stool height guide.
