What is an Eiffel chair?

The Eiffel chair, or chaise Eiffel, is a modern dining chair based on the mid-century moulded chair, named after the criss-cross metal base of the original design. Our Eiffel chairs keep the shape and change the build: the seat has a steel frame with S-shaped springs moulded in injected polyurethane foam, a curved backrest that supports higher up the back, and a concave seat that follows the body. The seat is upholstered rather than hard plastic, so it is comfortable through a long dinner.

Eiffel dining chairs are 19.5 inches wide and 23 inches deep. The seat height is 17 to 18.5 inches, depending on the base, which suits standard dining tables that are 28 to 30 inches high. Allow 24 inches of table width per chair, or 26 to 28 inches for the Eiffel armchair.

How to choose Eiffel chairs

For a dining table used every day, choose Eiffel HB or Eiffel Wood; wood legs are quiet on hard floors and the HB handle makes the chair easy to pull out. For a modern or monochrome room, choose Eiffel MW in black. Mixing is common: for example, Eiffel HB chairs along the sides and Eiffel armchairs at each end, all in the same seat colour.
