Eiffel Bar Stool

What is an Eiffel stool?

The Eiffel stool is a modern take on the mid-century moulded chair, built as a bar and counter stool. Its seat is 19.5 inches wide, wider than most counter stools, with a tall curved backrest, a rounded back and a concave seat that follows the body. Inside, a steel frame with S-shaped springs is moulded in injected polyurethane foam, which gives the seat both flexibility and strength. The same Eiffel seat is used on Eiffel dining chairs, so stools and chairs can be matched in one colour.

Eiffel stool heights

Eiffel counter stools have a 23 to 24 inch seat height and are about 36 inches tall overall. They suit standard kitchen counters and islands that are 35 to 37 inches high. Eiffel bar stools have a 28 to 29 inch seat height and are about 42 to 43 inches tall overall. They suit bars and high tables that are 41 to 43 inches high. The exact height depends on the base, as shown below.

Leave 10 to 12 inches between the top of the seat and the underside of the counter. Our bar stool height guide explains how to measure.

How to choose an Eiffel base

Choose Eiffel Wood or Eiffel HB for a warm, mid-century look; the HB handle makes the stool easy to pull in and out. Choose Eiffel Swivel when people turn between the counter and the room, for example at an island facing a living area. Choose Eiffel Wire or Sword for a lighter, more architectural look. Choose Eiffel Arm when guests sit for long periods, since the armrests add support, and allow 30 inches of counter per stool because it is wider.

How many Eiffel stools fit at your counter?

Allow 28 to 30 inches of counter length per Eiffel stool, measured centre to centre, because the seat is 19.5 inches wide. A 6 foot island seats two Eiffel stools with generous space or three closer together; an 8 foot island seats three comfortably.

Eiffel seat colours and upholstery

Eiffel stools come in leather in black, white, cream, grey, silver grey, brown, caramel, green, orange, dark red, petrol blue and sky blue, and selected versions in boucle. Two Eiffel stools, Eiffel Wood and Eiffel MW in black, are also available in genuine leather.

Eiffel stools and matching Eiffel dining chairs

Because the seat is identical, Eiffel counter stools and Eiffel dining chairs can be ordered in the same colour, so a kitchen island and a dining table read as one set. Compare with Pera stools, which have a narrower seat if you need to fit more stools along a counter.
