What is a Pera stool?

Pera is a family of bar and counter stools built around one moulded seat. The seat has a curved backrest that supports the lower back, a rounded back profile and a concave seat that follows the body. Inside, a steel frame with S-shaped springs is moulded in injected polyurethane foam, the same construction as the Eiffel seat. The same seat is offered on seven different bases, in two fixed heights and one adjustable version, so you can match a Pera stool to almost any kitchen without giving up the seat you like.

Pera seat heights

The Pera counter stool has a 24 inch seat height and an overall height of about 32 inches. It suits standard kitchen counters and islands that are 35 to 37 inches high. The Pera bar stool has a 29 inch seat height and an overall height of about 36.5 inches. It suits bars and high tables that are 41 to 43 inches high. The Pera Adjustable moves from 23 to 31.5 inches on a gas lift and swivels, so one stool can work at a counter or a bar.

How to choose a Pera base

Choose Pera Wood or Pera HB for a warm Scandinavian, mid-century or farmhouse kitchen. Light oak finishes suit white and pale stone counters; wenge and walnut suit darker cabinets. The HB handle makes the stool easier to pull out and push back in, which helps at a busy island.

Choose Pera Galata or Pera Wire for a lighter, more modern look. Thin metal legs keep the floor visible, which makes a small kitchen feel larger, and they are easy to clean around. Brass and gold finishes pair well with warm metals on lighting and hardware.

Choose Pera Adjustable when one set of stools has to work at two heights, or when adults and children share them. It also swivels, so getting in and out is easier at a tight counter.

How many Pera stools fit at your counter?

Allow 26 inches of counter length per Pera stool, measured centre to centre. Pera is 16 to 17.3 inches wide, so a 6 foot island seats three Pera stools comfortably and an 8 foot island seats four.

Pera seat colours and upholstery

Most Pera stools are upholstered in leather in neutral and colour options, including black, white, cream, bone, grey, brown, caramel, tan, wheat, cinnamon, green, orange, sky blue, mint and dark red. Selected versions are also available in velvet or boucle. Leather is wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Pera and Eiffel: what is the difference?

Pera and Eiffel share the same idea, one moulded seat on many bases, but differ in size and use. Pera is the smaller seat: 16 to 17.3 inches wide with a lower backrest that supports the lower back, made for bar and counter stools. Because it is narrower, more Pera stools fit along a counter. Eiffel is the larger seat: 19.5 inches wide with a higher backrest, and it is made for both bar stools and dining chairs, so an island and a dining table can match.
